TR2 Power Unit
A general purpose metal boxed power supply unit that provides a 24-28v DC output from a normal mains supply. The unit consists of a 240v mains transformer and bridge rectifier/capacitor circuit that will produce 24-28v DC at up to 2 amps. Designed primarilly for powering magnetic door holders and releases, the unit contains a relay that may be used to switch off the output with a 24 volt signal, usually from a fire alarm system.

Application
The TR2 power unit is normally used to control 24 volt DC magnetic door holders and over-door closer mechanisms. The unit will power up to 12 Tann Synchronome MDR24 magnetic holders continuously. It is also suitable for some other 24 volt DC supply applications, particuarly where the supply needs to be switched on or off from a remote 24 volt source such as a fire panel. Factory configured to switch the output off on application of the signal, but the relay connections can be swapped over in order to switch the output on instead. For example to power unmonitored Xenon strobe beacons or operate smoke vent fans/motors.

Note that since the TR2 is an unregulated unit, it is normal for the output voltage to vary depending on the supplied load. Off-load the output approaches 30v DC, whilst under a full load of 2 amps it falls to around 24v DC. It is not suitable for powering sensitive electronic devices, and must never be used to supply power to fire alarm control equipment..
