Application
ES4000
Suitable for infoor and outdoor use, the "universal" ES4000 is the standard sounder for signalling in open areas or corridors. Its durable design and encapsulated electronics provide excellent weatherproofing when used with the deep standard or "U" bases. With a selection of 28 common tones settable via internal switches, the ES4000 makes an ideal replacement or addition to systems with existing sounders, regardless of type.
ES5000
No bigger than the average lightswitch, the subtle design of the ES5000 allows flush or surface mounting that blends in with décor. It is ideal for use in residential accommodation and hotels where British Standards require a sound level of 75dB at the bed-head.
ES6000
Slim-line and inconspicuous, the ES6000 is designed to form a combined unit with a detector. Universal mountings allow most common smoke and heat detector bases to be fixed to the sounder - common mounting reduces installation time and wiring costs, as well as reducing the visual impact of the installation. A blank cover is avaliable should the unit be required to operate as a stand-alone sounder.
How they Work
When the fire panel enters an alarm state it applies 24 volts to the sounders, causing them to emit a penetrating sound. The default tone is a clear and attention-getting upward sweeping sound. ES4000 offers a multitude of user-selectable tones to suit the application or match an existing alarm sound. The sounders are synchronised on start-up ensuring the same sound throughout the system. Connection to a third terminal allows for switching between sweeping and continuous tones for different signals (eg, Bomb Alert or school class periods).
Installation
The ES4000 may be flush mounted to a BESA box or surface mounted with cable entries in the side depending on which version is used. The ES5000 flush-mounts to a British Standard single gang electrical box, or can be supplied with a matching surface box for side cable entry. The ES6000 mounts directly to the wall, or to the celing underneath a detector. It has a central hole to allow the detector`s wiring to pass through. Please consult the data sheet for a wiring diagram.
